Wanda Young Shaffer passed away peacefully on the morning of January 19, 2026. She was 79 and a native of Crystal River, FL.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Wanda worked for the state and was a homemaker for many years. She had a strong Christian faith and was also known for her passion for all animals and her deep love for all of her pets.

Wanda is survived by her husband of 55 years Ronald Wayne Shaffer of Central, LA; son Jason Wayne Shaffer and his wife Amanda of Walker, LA; daughter Elizabeth “Beth” Irene and her husband Joe Bordelon of Denham Springs, LA; five grandchildren Dayne Michael Bordelon, Gage Austin Bordelon, Meghan Elizabeth Shaffer, Aiden Cole Bordelon, and Samantha Allyn Shaffer; soon to arrive great granddaughter Berkley Grace Bordelon.

She is preceded in death by her parents Osborne Villard Young and Electa Powell Young.

Visitation will take place at Magnolia United Methodist Church, 16024 Greenwell Springs Rd, Greenwell Springs on Thursday, January 22, 2026, from 10am to 12pm with funeral services to follow. Burial will take place in the church cemetery immediately after the service.

Pall bearers will be Dayne Bordelon, Gage Bordelon, Joe Bordelon, Chris Foster, Chad Foster and Brett Leonard.

Special thanks to the dedicated staff of Amera Senior Living and Gentiva Hospice for their care of Wanda.
