Stephen "Steve" Cullen Smith, a native of Little Rock, Arkansas and a resident of Central, Louisiana, died Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at the age of 65. He was the beloved husband of Gloria Young Smith; loving father of Candice Smith Salsbury (husband, Adam) and Kasey Smith; and brother of Lisa Smith Cutrer (husband, Ronnie.)
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Bobby R. and Barbara Smith; and by a sister, Debbie Smith Langdon.
Steve was a graduate of Central High School in 1978 and made his career as a salesman with The Rubber House of Baton Rouge for 48 years. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved fishing, hunting and marksmanship. He also loved playing many stringed instruments. One of his greatest joys in recent years was playing music alongside close friends, where friendship and a shared loved of music brought him endless happiness. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and grandpuppies.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a dontation to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation on Monday, July 6, 2026 from 5PM until 8PM at Zoar Baptist Church, 11848 Hooper Road, Central, Louisiana. Viewing will resume Tuesday morning, July 7, 2026 from 9AM until the 11AM Funeral Service, all at church. Interment will follow at Zoar Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tim Tucker, Ivan McKnight, Alan Lindsey, David Sicard, Bruce Prestridge and Jason Aucoin. Honorary Pallbearers will be Andy Bryan, Jeff Crowe, Larry Jackson, Michael Jackson, Marty King, Adam Salsbury and Rodney Averette.
In lieu of flowers, family and friends of Steve who prefer to provide a memorial contribution may do so. The family will use these to honor Steve's life and memory. Please continue to keep the family in your thoughts throughout this challenging time.
