Ronald Eugene Loper, 71, of Denham Springs, Louisiana, passed away at his home on May 2, 2026.
He was born on September 12, 1954, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi to Gene and Rachel Loper. Ronnie spent his life owning and operating Loper Dozers and Equipment for 18 years. In the years that followed, he continued to work in Livingston Parish and surrounding areas in construction, land-clearing, aggregates, and mechanics.
Ronnie was song director of his local church for many years and became a lay preacher in 1978. He was known for his passion and service for The Lord, his love of a good meal, tractor stories, and never meeting a stranger. He touched the lives of many through his work travels, relationships built in church, and surrounding communities. Ronnie enjoyed everything outdoors (especially hunting) and found joy in the simple things.
He is survived by loving wife of 54 years, Celeste Burris Loper, his mother Rachel Loper, 3 siblings, 9 grandchildren and 6 children: Cassandra (James) Corley, Jason (Jennifer) Loper, Rhonda Loper, Summer Loper, Taylor (Stephen) Tuttle, Veronica (Seth) Klug. He was preceded in death by his father, Gene.
A funeral service will be held at Live Oak Baptist Church on Tuesday May 6, 2026, order of services: visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., service at 1:00 p.m., followed by family/friends’ burial at Salem Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers: Jake Loper, Landon Graves, Daniel Tassin, and Daniel Biggs, Sr.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to your favorite church or charity.
His legacy will continue on through all who loved him. And as he always said, "The Best is Yet to Come!"
