Richard Dale Selser, 67, was born on December 14, 1957, and passed away on November 15, 2025, after losing a battle with cancer. He was a native of Baton Rouge and a resident of Maurepas, Louisiana.
He is survived by his children, Joshua Selser (Tesla), Nicole Woolworth (Patrick), and Zachary Selser (Lindsay); his grandchildren, Evan and Alastair; his brothers, “Sonny” Selser and Greg Selser (Dessa); his sisters, Pat Barrow (Logan), Jackie Deaton, and Rhonda Pourciau (Boo); and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lionel and Hazel Selser; his sister, Ramona Persac; his brother-in-law, Jody Deaton; his sisters-in-law, Barbara Selser and Beverly Selser; and his nephews, Kevin Deaton and Robert Barrow.
Ricky enjoyed riding in his boat, fishing, and riding his motorcycle. He was a talented musician who loved playing guitar, banjo, harmonica, drums, and singing with local bands in Maurepas. He was also known for cooking award-winning pots of jambalaya. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends, especially his nephew Chad, who was his “best bud.”
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at OLOL who cared for Ricky in his final days. A special thank you to Jennifer and Jeff Persac, and Mary Jennings, for all they have done to help Ricky over the last few years. The family also extends heartfelt gratitude to his best friend, Mario Rodriguez, for calling every day to check on him and make sure he was okay.
Family and friends are invited to attend visitation at 11:00 a.m., followed by a Celebration of Life service at noon, at First United Methodist Church in the W.R. Aldrich Chapel, located at 930 North Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA 70802. Officiated by Reverend Brady Whitton. Parking is available on America Street; please enter through the America Street entrance.
