Nell Marie Thomassie Bercegeay, born on February 22, 1936, in Saint Amant, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2026. Her long and full life was a source of inspiration to all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Nell was a woman whose heart was as vibrant as her spirit. Deeply rooted in her Louisiana community, she was a cherished companion, a loving family member, and a steadfast friend. She delighted in the simple joys of life—camping under starlit skies, the excitement of bingo nights, gathering adored friends and family for games of cards, and attending church. Her devotion was equally evident in the careful rosaries she crafted by hand, the thrill she found in the rhythmic comfort of her favorite bands, and her younger years spent riding horses across open fields.

Nell was the loving daughter of Percy Thomassie and Isabelle Morvant, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also predeceased by her siblings Josie (Will) Brain, Jane (Alton) Rouyea, Charles Thomassie, and Perry Thomassie. Their memories have always been honored in her heart.

A devoted mother, Nell is survived by her loving children. She Proceed in death by her parents (Percy Thomassie and Isabell Morvant), siblings (Jane Rouyea and Perry Thomassie), son (Craig Bercegeay Sr.. Her role as a mother was marked by dedication, warmth, and unwavering strength, qualities that took root in future generations.

Nell's legacy continues through her grandchildren, who survive her with gratitude and love: Trish LeBlanc, Amanda (Darryl) Braud, Lana (Rob) Taylor, Terry Jr (Rebecca) Lambert, Bill Lambert, Christina Bercegeay, Brian Pankey, Craig Jr (Amber) Bercegeay, Nina (Allen) McDowell, and Lil Ray (Tabatha) LaBauve. Each of them was touched by her generosity, guidance, and affection.

Her great-grandchildren were a continual source of pride and happiness for Nell—Lance LeBlanc, Savannah (Michael) Huynh, Jadynn Duhe, Harlie Duhe, Kourtney Braud, Katie Braud, Maddison Lambert, Hunter Lambert, Amelia Taylor, Shelbi Lambert, Lane Lambert, Emma Lambert, Logan Lambert, Ray LaBauve IV, Hannah LaBauve, Kimmy Rouyea, Lexi Millien, Carsen Bercegeay, Jude Bercegeay, Baylin Wyatt, Isabella Wyatt, and Makenzie Wyatt. Nell's boundless love extended to each of them, leaving cherished memories that will sustain her family for years to come.

Nell Marie Thomassie Bercegeay’s life stands as a beacon of love, devotion, and kindness. She leaves an enduring legacy in the hearts of her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Those who mourn her passing will forever celebrate the warmth, humor, and compassion she brought into their lives.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at St. Mark Catholic Church in Gonzales, LA from 9:20am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am. Burial will follow at Cornerview Cemetery in Gonzales, LA.

Nell’s memory will be further honored by her family members who will serve as pallbearers: Terry Lambert Jr, Bill Lambert, Lil Ray LaBauve, Hunter Lambert, Ray LaBauve IV, and Lane Lambert. Her great-grandson, Lance LeBlanc, will hold the place of honorary pallbearer, a testament to the close bond she shared with her family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests potted plants be sent in Nell's memory.
