Michael “Mike” Fred Barnett, born November 6, 1949, gave his final “Yes, Lord!” on this side of the firmament in the early hours of March 26, 2025. A U.S. Army Veteran of Vietnam, he is survived by his wife, Susan Harper Barnett, his forever love and the rocks in his pockets. He is also survived by his children: Seth Barnett, Sarah (Matthew) Broussard, Andrea (Aaron) Mayers, Amie (Don) Crabtree, Kerrie (Greg) Knox, Julie (Mark) Herndon, Melanie Curtin, and Jennie Marie. He was proud to be known as PawPaw his to eleven grandchildren: Miles Henry Broussard, Adriana Crabtree, Cynthia Millen, Thomas Crabtree, David Crabtree, Savannah Meyers, Lilian Herndon, Dawson Curtin, Bryson Curtin, Addison Staton, and Aaron Staton, as well as a handful of great grandchildren. He is also survived by Frannie B., who will miss digging in his fresh dirt and barking at him as he passed by in the Jeep.
He was preceded in death by his eldest son, Michael Jerred, and his parents, Fred and Annie Lorene Haddaway Barnett.
Mike loved to sail and had a passion for working with horses. He was a lifelong resident of Denham Springs, Louisiana, but his heart belonged in Leadville, Colorado with a pastry and a cup of coffee from City on a Hill, gazing at the Fourteeners. He made the most delicious fajitas and never turned down a chocolate shake.
Most importantly, Mike’s life was lived for Yahweh. He allowed the Lord to lead him in every decision and aspect of living. He began his walk with the Lord on October 3, 1985, and was forever moved to the front lines. He is said to have had a chronic case of, “Yes, Lord!” His As One family honors is legacy and mantle.
The Barnett family would like to give a special thank you to Mrs. Floy Law for being his right guard.
A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at 10:00AM at 30915 Barnett Lane, Denham Springs, LA 70726.
