Merlin J. “MJ” Allen passed away on Friday, May 9, 2025 at the age of 83. MJ grew up in Amite, Louisiana and was a long-time resident of Prairieville, Louisiana. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Gloria Trosclair Allen. Also survived by his daughters Wendy Enloe and Heather (Brett) Luquette; grandchildren, Beau (Kaylea Stewart) Enloe, Jason Luquette, and Meagan Elise (Collin) Varisco; great-grandchildren, Rowan and Katherine Stewart-Enloe, and Julian Varisco; brother Clyde “CL” (Linda) Allen; sisters-in-law Janice (Kenneth) Keating and Anna Lee (Kenneth) Entremont. He is preceded in death by his parents J. M. Allen and Bethel Varnado Allen; son-in-law, James Enloe; and sisters-in-law, Geraldine Oubre and Phyllis Heddings. MJ retired as an operator from Shell Chemical Geismar. He was a member of the Baton Rouge Corvette Club. MJ loved spending time with family and friends at his home on the Amite River in Prairieville and at his farm in Kentwood, Louisiana.

The family extends their gratitude to Pinnacle Hospice – Baton Rouge and The Crossing at Clarity Hospice staff for their caring and dedicated service during his final days. Donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Alzheimer’s Services of the Capital Area.

A visitation will be held on Friday, May 16th at 9 am until funeral service at 11 am to be held at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church 44450 Hwy 429 St. Amant, LA 70774.
