Marcelle Ann Nesom DeSoto, born September 17, 1941, in Plaquemine, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2025, at Baton Rouge General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. A native of Plaquemine, Marcelle graduated from St. John High School and attended Louisiana State University, where she was a proud member of Tri Delta sorority.
Marcelle was a woman of many passions. An avid reader with a lifelong love for Star Trek, she also had a notorious sweet tooth and a green thumb, nurturing her potted plants with care. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family and will be fondly remembered for her unwavering faith and devotion to the Bible.
She is survived by her daughters, Marcelle M. DeSoto and Regina DeSoto Wilson; her son, J. Andre’ DeSoto and his spouse, Audrey Zaldumbide; her grandchildren, Brittany Rouse (Lee), Larry “Trey” Wilson, Lillian Wilson, and Jules DeSoto; and her great-grandchildren, Cedar and Sage Rouse. Marcelle was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin Nesom and Bernice Price Nesom; her sister, Judy Nesom; and her former spouse and friend, Jan DeSoto.
Visitation will be held at St. Margaret Episcopal Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on Saturday, June 7, 2025, from 9:30 AM until religious services at 11:30 AM, conducted by The Reverend Tommy Dillon, II.
