Karl Raymond LaCroix of Baton Rouge, LA passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at the age of 70.
Born on March 18, 1955 in Alexandria, Louisiana, Karl moved with his family to Baton Rouge as a young child. He attended Broadmoor High School and went on to serve honorably in the United States Air Force. He built a long and dedicated career at Johnstone Supply and later on with HVAC Facility Services at Louisiana State University. Karl never met a stranger and formed many dear friendships over the years.
Karl loved fishing— whether fresh or saltwater—and was rarely seen without a newspaper crossword puzzle in hand. As a lifelong LSU fan, he followed the Tigers with unwavering loyalty. But his greatest joy came from his grandchildren, who never failed to bring a smile to his face. Karl's legacy of service and quiet strength will live on in the hearts of all that knew him.

Karl was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his loving wife, Ellen May LaCroix; his daughters, Eden May Miller (Brett), and Kelli LaCroix Fountain (Conrad, former wife Cindy LaCroix Woodward); and his cherished grandchildren, Andrew and Sydney Fountain, and Ellie Miller. He is also survived by his brothers Michael LaCroix and Wally (Mary) Johnson; his sister Joy (Richard) Nelson; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marie and Carles Johnson Sr., Claude Maurice LaCroix, and his brother, Carles Johnson Jr.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Landmark of Baton Rouge for assisting in his care over the last 2 years. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Coastal Conservation Association in his name.

Visitation will be held at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at 9:00 am, with a memorial service to follow at 10:00 am.
