Jr.'s life and memory. Please continue to keep the family in your thoughts throughout this challenging time.
John L. Logerot Jr., a beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away on October 3, 2026, after a short, courageous battle with esophageal cancer. Born on April 4, 1950, in Baton Rouge, LA to Emerante Duhon Logerot and John L Logerot. He is preceded in death by his parents, by sister and brother-in-law Betty and Steve Aday, grandparents and aunt Emile and Marie Duhon and Catherine Lawhun. John L was a graduate of Redemptorist High, Class of 1968, where he played bass clarinet for the high school and All State Band. He attended LSU where he continued to play in the Tiger Marching Band and Concert Band from 68-69. He went on to follow his passion for photography, with the Tiger Band in the 70s. He served in the US Navy and Reserves during the Vietnam War from February 1971- January 1976. He took on a few photography jobs and explored his passion for taking pictures for friends and family through most of his life. For most of his career, John L was the manager/ VP of Rayco, a welding and machine shop. He later enjoyed a quieter professional time managing various Albertson’s locations and spent the last few years as Assistant Manager of Feliciana Industrial Supply. He is survived by his daughter Kimberly Logerot (Crochet), brother Darwin (Dottie) Logerot, and grandchildren Haeden, Owen, Collin. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews Katie Goodwin, Morgan (Jody) Koster, Mason (Stephanie) Logerot and great nephews Ryan and Henry Logerot. He had a passion for all LSU sports and was a man of many talents, from bowling to billiards to Bingo. But his most favorite was his Bourre and Poker games. And to those mighty fine people, he loved y’all just as much as you all loved him. He treasured every single game, and time spent with those people. His cooking skills will never be matched, but his sacred recipes will most definitely be carried out by his loved ones and grandsons. John L was known for his friendliness, never meeting a stranger he couldn’t talk to. His pride in being a Paw Paw was evident to all who knew him. He also had a unique talent for making the perfect Sazerac and shared his method with enthusiasm.
We will host a memorial service at the Vineyard Church of Baton Rouge on November 2, 2026. Visitation will be from 9-11 with service immediately following. We will then take an escorted drive to the National Cemetery for proper military honor before placing his urn in the columbarium.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and oncologists at Ochsner MD Anderson Cancer Center, as well as the compassionate teams at Clarity Hospice and The Woodleigh of Baton Rouge, for their support and care during John L's final days. If you would like to make any donations, please have them made in John L's memory to the American Cancer Society to continue the fight against cancer. John L. Logerot
Jr.'s legacy of love, friendship, and kindness will forever be cherished and remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
