JoAnn Allen Renfroe, lovingly known as JoJo to her grandkids, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 3, 2026, at home in Denham Springs, LA at the age of 84. Born February 3, 1942, to Willis and Lydia “Lillie” Brister Allen of Lincoln County, MS she was the youngest of four daughters. She was a 1960 graduate of Enterprise High School and worked as a switchboard operator for BellSouth in Brookhaven, Ms. Upon marrying she became a homemaker staying home to take calls for her husband’s painting business. Moving to Baton Rouge, LA in May 1987 she fulfilled her lifelong dream of becoming a hairdresser. After graduating from National Beauty College JoAnn worked at Georgia’s Beauty Carousel, owned by her sister Georgia, until retiring in 2011. She loved instrumental music, needlepoint, sewing, and baking but her favorite thing to do was spending time with family.
Mother was a quiet person who spoke volumes with her love for caring for others. She was a treasure in each of our lives and will be greatly missed but most importantly she was a Child of God.
JoAnn is survived by her three children, Tim Renfroe and Missy, David Renfroe and Laci all of Brookhaven, MS and Sonya Renfroe Blanchard and Eric of Denham Springs, LA. Five grandchildren, Alex Powell (Samantha) of Brookhaven, MS, Heather Renfroe Champaign (Justin) of Houma, LA , Haley Renfroe Nickel (Aaron) of Brookhaven, MS, Peyton Blanchard of Denham Springs, LA and Jackson Renfroe of Brookhaven, MS, twelve great-grandchildren BrookLynn, Ripkin, Ella and Emersyn Powell, Brayden, Tristan, Ryleigh and Rhett Champagne and Leelend, Mason, Ava and Owen Nickell.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and two brother-in-law’s, Fannie Mae and William “Buck” Bales of Summit MS, Georgia Mae and William “Bob” Field and Flora Lee Hall all three of Baton Rouge, LA and two grandchildren, Brandon Paul and Morgan JoiLeigh Blanchard.
A special thank you to her sitter Carrie Rogers, Compassus Hospice of Baton Rouge, her nurses Summekia Nichols, Donna Hand, Toni Leblanc and CNA Melissa Weber. We are eternally grateful for your support and love you poured into mom over the last year.
Pallbears will be Tim, David and Jackson Renfroe, Eric Blanchard, Justin Champaign and Aaron Nickle.
Visitation will be at Hebron Baptist Church located at 24063 La Hwy 16 in Denham Springs, LA on Thursday, April 9, 2026, starting at 10:30 until services at 11:00am. After the service, visitation will continue in the church CAC building. At Ms. Renfroe's request there will be no graveside services. Hospice Chaplain Rick Julian will be presiding over the service, and all arrangements are under the direction of Church Funeral Services.
