After graduating from Istrouma High School in 1966, Jim went on to honorably serve his country in the United States Army as a Vietnam veteran. Following his military service, he pursued higher education at Louisiana State University, where he earned a degree in Construction Engineering. He went on to build a long and respected career as a Construction Manager, working on projects across the United States. Outside of work, Jim found joy in the outdoors and in time spent with those he loved. He enjoyed camping, canoeing, and riding motorcycles, but his greatest happiness was found at his camp in the country. He was rarely without his loyal companions, Thor, his Collie, and Mia, his grandson's Australian Shepherd, who brought him constant comfort and companionship.
