Retired from St. Amant Primary Cafeteria, she died at10:00 p.m., Sunday, June 20, 2021 at her residence in Acy. She was 87, born July 12, 1933, in Acy. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, as well as a homemaker. Effie was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. Over the years, as Cafeteria Head Cook, she earned a reputation for being a stickler about cooking a perfect meal for the children. Her cooking talents led her to compete in the United States wide contest in New York where she placed fourth out of 11 other schools. Effie had an unwavering faith in God. She was a member of New River Baptist church until she converted to Catholicism to attend Catholic church with her husband. She did so with great pride and enjoyed going to Our Lady of The Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Over the years, she was a member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 3693 and was the Buddy Poppy Chairperson for many years raising funds to help Veterans. All who knew Effie will remember her for her selfless acts of kindness. She had a love of cooking cookies and cakes to share with friends and family. Visitation at Our Lady of The Holy Rosary Catholic Church at St. Amant from 9 am until Mass at 11:00 am on Wednesday, June 23, 2021. Burial at Our Lady of The Holy Rosary Catholic Church mausoleum, celebrated by Father Mat Dunn. Celebration of life will follow services at the VFW Post 3693. Effie is survived by her son John Ronkartz Jr. and wife Nancy, daughters Sheila Hughes and husband Ed Hughes (deceased), Karen Ronkartz, and Wendy Cooper and husband Donnie. Special friends Jim and Dee Thomas of Palm Harbor Fl. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, Chad, Jeremy, Matt, Kyle, Jonathan and wife Erica Ronkartz, and Steven Truman, Lindsey Boisseau. Darren and wife Rhonda Hughes, Donald and wife LeaAnn Hughes. Tiffany Bockhorn and husband Dante. Amy Constant and husband Willis, and Sandy Wendt and husband Jesse. 21 Great Grandchildren Nicholas and Salem Ronkartz, Taylor Duplessis, Tylar Summitt, Derick and Justin Ronkartz, Devin, Hailey and Cameron Kachauskas, Dru and Cassidy Hughes, Bailey and Jeremy Hughes, Chloe Pepper, Lucas and Anniston Bockhorn, Tucker and Piper Constant, Lincoln and Lydia Wendt; two Great Great Grandchildren, Taytum Hughes and Naemi Duplessis; two siblings, Helen Hebert, and Dixie Rogers. Effie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 1/2 years, J. W. Ronkartz Sr. She was also preceded in death by her son Donald Wayne, Granddaughter Stephanie Arceneaux, Great grandson Dawson Hughes, her parents Thomas and Maline Rogers, two brothers Joby and Selby Rogers, and a sister Rosemary Richardson. Pallbearers will be Chad, Matt, Jonathan and Kyle Ronkartz, Donald Hughes , and Jesse Wendt. Honorary pallbearer Donnie Cooper.
