Daniel Gene Strong “Bully” peacefully passed away on August 27, 2025. Daniel spent most of his life in Baton Rouge, La., where he retired as a superintendent at Percy Matherene Contractors. He was a member of the local 1098 Carpenters' Union.
Daniel was born on February 8, 1952, in Marksville, Louisiana. He was known for his ability to fix just about anything and was the one everyone turned when things needed repairing. Beyond his work, Daniel found joy in cooking, fishing at Toledo Bend and being with family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dallas and Jeanette Strong, and his sister, Glenda Creel, his brothers-in-law, Ronnie Creel and Tommy Poissot.
Daniel is survived by his wife of 48 years, Toni Montalbano Strong; his son, Ryan Gene Strong, his daughter-in-law, Whitney; and his two beloved grandchildren, Parker and Owen, who were his pride and joy.
Daniel was one of nine children, survived by his siblings: Gail Ruth (James), Ronnie Strong (Marsha), Lisa Strong, Connie Poissot, Debra Wells (Kerrie), Carol Efferson (Danny), and Jim Lee Strong. He is also remembered by his in-laws: Mike Montalbano (DeEtte), Randy Montalbano (Darleen), Vicki Brewer (David) and Tommy Montalbano, and a host of nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
The family would like to extend a warm thank you to Dr Vunable and his team, the ICU staff at Baton Rouge General on Bluebonnet and to his favorite nurse, Antoinette. Special thanks to Daniel’s family and friends for the amazing support in the last days of his life as he was lifted up in prayer to the Lord. A funeral service and burial will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Joseph’s Abbey. The service will be officiated by Father Angel Diaz Perez and Deacon Ed Kelly.
