Cynthia (Cindy) L. Nuckolls passed from this earth to her eternal Heavenly home on Monday, October 5, 2026. Surrounded by her loving family, she passed peacefully after a 5-year battle with MSA (Multiple System Atrophy). Cindy met every stage of this disease with dignity and grace. Through it all, she radiated her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in the midst of remarkable and constant pain. Born on April 28, 1954 in Pasadena, TX, to Edward L. and Margaret Garrison Ivy, she moved to Denham Springs early in her life and resided there until her death. Cindy is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Craig Nuckolls; daughter Courtney Nuckolls; and grandson, Ethan M. Nuckolls (the apple of her eye!); two sisters, Shelly Evans and husband, Jim, of Pensacola, FL; and Patricia Davidson of New Orleans, LA. In addition, Cindy has numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins who all love her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents.

After graduating from LSU with a Masters +30 degree in Elementary Education, she began a successful 20-year career teaching in Livingston Parish, mainly at Northside Elementary in Denham Springs. One of her great joys after retiring was when she would encounter one of her students from many years past, who would approach her to say that she had a significant impact on their lives, even at that early age. This happened on a regular basis. Never far from the classroom, she served as a Sunday School teacher for 30+ years at New Covenant Church (now Grace Covenant Church), not teaching spelling and math anymore but about Jesus Christ and His love for us all.

Cindy loved the beach and made regular trips to Florida's coastline with family and friends through the years. She also loved to be outside, tending to her flowers. Up until the end of her time on earth, when she was severely limited in any activities, her favorite pastime was to sit in her wheelchair on her back porch just to see the flowers and listen to the birds. Even during the last months of her life, when her communication ability had been stripped away, visiting friends would say that she

"inspired them and radiated the fragrance of Jesus Christ." Her time on this earth is over but as stated in 2 Timothy 4:7, she can truly say, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." Her family and friends who loved her dearly will certainly attest to that.

*The family wishes to extend appreciation to Compassus Hospice, for their excellent care; and to Dr. Rebecca Whiddon, for her compassionate and loving treatment through the years. We also want to offer our heartfelt thanks to Glenice Williams, Cindy's caregiver and much-loved friend, who cared for Cindy's needs over the last year of her life.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2026 at Grace Covenant Church, 214 Florida Ave, Denham Springs, Louisiana, Visitation beginning at 10AM followed by the service at NOON.

In lieu of flowers, family and friends of Cynthia Lee Nuckolls who prefer to provide a memorial contribution may do so. The family will use these to honor Cindy's life and memory by donating to the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center. Please continue to keep the family in your thoughts throughout this challenging time.
