Claudia Faye Bowman Savoy was born on March 2, 1943, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She graduated from Istrouma High School in1962. Soon after, she met and married her husband of 45 years, John Edward (Turtle) Savoy. Together they raised two daughters, Marie and Jessie. In 1974, they moved to the Prairieville area where she worked for many years at United Way and also owned Playland Daycare in Baton Rouge. She later ran an in-home childcare service where she was a cherished sitter to many children in the community. Claudia attended Holy Rosary Catholic Church, where she was involved in many committees over the years, including overseeing the Lake Bereavement Committee. She was also an Election Voting Commissioner in Charge for Ascension Parish. Claudia enjoyed raising her chickens and was known around the parish for providing farm eggs. While she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and her family, Claudia was a caregiver at heart to all. Claudia was preceded in death by her husband, John Edward Savoy, and her parents, Woodrow Wilson Bowman, Jessie Bernice Hingle Bowman, and her Brothers-in-law Ricky Savoy and Glenn Cupit and Sister-in-law Pat Savoy. Claudia is survived by her sister, Betty Joyce Cupit, and her daughters Marie Bernice Savoy Peel (Larry) and Jessie Elizabeth Savoy Fridge (James). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jessie Nicole Peel (Braden), James Peel (Carly), Jori Elizabeth Fridge, Jonah James Fridge and great-granddaughter, Eleanor (Ellie) Amelia Thompson. Claudia is also survived by her in-laws, Larry and Sandra Waguespack and Donald Savoy, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed by her cat, Sydney, along with all of her friends and extended family members.
