On behalf of the family, we thank you for visiting the campaign memorial page. We appreciate memorials made in their memory. Please also take a moment and share a personal memory that will help them in their grief journey. And on the left side, please share this page via your social media. They will sincerely appreciate it.
Dave Luebbert was diagnosed with neuroendocrine cancer in January of 2022. When he first got his diagnoses, he said that he was going to fight like hell, and fight like hell he did. For almost a year and half he fought so, so hard against this horrible disease, but was called home on Mother’s Day to be reunited with his own mother.

Dave was a mentor, coach, brother, son, husband, father and friend to many. As the creator of the Smithville Sting Softball Organization that he led for 15 years, Dave was always one to give his shirt off his back for others. His family now needs us to do the same for them as he always would.

The family would like to put some sort of memorial up in honor of him at either his house or his hunting lodge. All donations will go towards this memorial, as well as help cover any bills they may have.

My best memories of Dave are the annual Branson Sting trips. Everything from the sting banquets, to the banner challenges, to trying to push him and some of the other parents in the pool. You could always count on his big smile and laugh. I only played for Dave for a couple years but I know he was always cheering me on.

We have so many great memories with Dave, Julie and the girls. He shared his passion for softball with our family and so many in our community. He will be missed but I hope he’s up in Heaven shagging balls with the other angels. Prayers and thoughts to his family. 🙏

I started hunting with Dave (Lou), in I think, the fall of 2010. My brother, Ryan, had been hunting with him for years before that and kept telling me I needed to come down and hunt with their group. It was the best decision I’ve made in a long time to join them.

Lou welcomed me with open arms and his humor, laughter, and passion for everything he did, left a lasting impression. That first day we hunted together started warm and humid, and ended with ice forming around our waders as we sat on buckets in the water at the end of the day. It was by far the best day of duck hunting I’ve ever had.

I’ve had many adventures with Lou since that first hunting trip and will always remember the nickname he gave me after a late night of playing cards, having maybe a little bit of alcohol to drink, and a midnight snack of mostly jalapeno’s, a large can of nacho cheese and a few corn chips. That next day Lou said he always wanted a friend he could call “Nacho”.

I am blessed to have Lou as one of my closest friends.

For over 30 years I had the pleasure of golfing, hunting and partying with Lou. So many memories I will cherish the rest of my life. He was more than a friend but like a brother.
