David's life wasn't the best of lives, but it was David's life's journey.
The only child of James Joseph Harnwell, Jr. and Mary Luella Hedgepeth Harnwell, David Lawrence Harnwell was born at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls, Montana on January 16, 1957. Sadly, his body gave out at the age of 63 on January 28, 2020 at his residence in Shreveport, Louisiana.

David was a loyal friend to anyone he met. A devoted son to his polio stricken mother after his father’s death, an accomplished linguist (English Celtic and German) and was passionate about his Irish heritage. He was a MOPAR aficionado and a real Dodge man, who loved attending the monthly car gathering at the Lakeshore McDonald's in years past. He was a talented artist creating realistic miniature diorama street scenes with his miniature cars collection, then photographing them during using his old fashion lighting techniques.

David loved to debate history and politics and especially loved to pass along any information of which he had once read in a book or magazine or had seen on television. You had better be prepared to listen, he knew a lot, either from what he learned or what he had experienced in his life. He proudly served in the United States Coast Guard on the northern west coast and on the Mississippi River. David will be missed by everyone who knew him.

A private gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home.

Remember to keep his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers during this time.

His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord. Matthew 25:21

A very good man and fellow Coastie. We all have our scars and some are deeper than others. We love one another as brothers and sisters. We love David and miss him. May his voyage home be peaceful in the arms of the Lord....Amen
