Tracy Gayle Smith McCarroll passed away peacefully on March 15, 2024, in her Baton Rouge home surrounded by her family and her faithful Dewey. She was 53. Tracy courageously fought Multiple Sclerosis for 34 years before being called home to our Lord.

Tracy was born in New Orleans on July 9, 1970, and moved to Baton Rouge later that year. Baton Rouge was never the same. She was a graduate of Baton Rouge High (Class of 1988), as well as Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, where she earned an MS in Environmental Toxicology. She worked as a Toxicologist with the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality until she retired.

Her smile and compassionate nature endeared her to friends and family alike. Tracy made friends wherever she went. She was a lifetime member of Broadmoor United Methodist Church in Baton Rouge where she was a soloist and active in church activities. Tracy shared her beautiful voice in school and church choirs.

She sang her first solo at Broadmoor United Methodist when she was 9 years old. She enjoyed watching LSU baseball, stamp collecting, word and logic puzzles as well as spending time with her beloved dachshunds, Albert and Dewey. Everyone who knew Tracy was amazed at her strength and determination. She was a “fighter” to the end. She will be missed.

She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Keith E McCarroll, her father, Robert L Smith, and her mother, Constance W Smith. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Albert Weber and Mildred Graci Weber; and her paternal grandparents, Audrey Smith, and Mildred Bailly Smith. A service celebrating Tracy’s life will be determined at a later date.
