Hugh Clayton Denham, a resident of New River Bayou on the Lillian Wall Property in Louisiana, passed away on May 12, 2025, at the age of 92. He was born on April 18, 1933, in Liberty, Mississippi. He attended and was a big supporter of Louisiana Christian School in Pineville. He then attended Gateway School of Ministry, which was a Southern Baptist Seminary and later lead to a calling to become a Baptist Minister. He made a living in Ministery in California before moving and settling down in his hometown. Hugh was supported by Guidestone Ministry in his later years. Hugh led a life rich in service, faith, and compassion and he left a profound impact on all who were fortunate enough to know him. Hugh also was a proud veteran of the US Navy; he served in the Korean Conflict and received a medal for Valor.
He is survived by his nieces and nephews, Derwin and Rhonda Guedry, Wayne and Denise Guedry, Kerwin Guedry, and Stephanie Guedry and Joe German; and his adopted son, Dirk Denham and family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Lillian Denham; siblings, Virginia Denham, Dave Denham, Riley Denham, Pete Denham, Sally Denham Guedry, and Peewee Murray Denham; his half sister, Lucille; and his nephew, Gary Hugh Guedry.
A funeral service to honor Hugh's life will be celebrated at New River Baptist Church in St. Amant on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, with visitation from 9am until service time at 11am. Burial to follow at the church cemetery. Navy military honors will be rendered at the graveside service.
