Norman John Altazan’s (Prune) glorious homegoing was Friday January 24, 2025. He was surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 7, 1956. He was one of seven children. He was a native of Port Allen, LA. Survived by the greatest gifts of his life, his two daughters, Norah Dee Altazan and Diane Marie Altazan Richard joined with son-in-law Cody Matthew Richard and seven grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Helen Diane Magee Altazan and parents Elward Roman "Crack” Altazan Sr. and Lucille Elizabeth Gautreaux Altazan. A retired Longshoreman of Baton Rouge Marine ILA local 3033 making his living on the mighty Mississippi River. He enjoyed music, fishing, playing pool, fireworks, and building bonfires. He also loved dancing around them in reflection of his Native American Heritage. Norman was loved by all he encountered for his heart was of a pure and gentle nature. He was full of life, joy, and love for others. He was a member of The River Church of Addis, Louisiana, pastored by Ps.Butch and Susan LaBauve. He will be dearly missed as he leaves behind so many happy memories. We have thankful hearts to God for blessing us with the life of Norman and celebrate in knowing he is now dancing with Jesus. Per Norman’s request he will be cremated; Norman is the fire living in our hearts. Hear me, LORD, and have mercy on me. Lord, be my help. You have turned my wailing into dancing. You have taken away my clothes of mourning and clothed me with joy, that I might sing praises to you and not be silent. LORD my God, I will give thanks to you forever! Psalm 30; 10-12
