Monika Kunoth Luna, age 76 years old, after a lengthly illness, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday September 12, 2024, surrounded by her family and close friends.
She was born on December 7,1947 in Bayreuth Germany to Heintz J. Kunoth and Christa Kunoth (Manske). Her family moved to the United States in 1960. She attended many schools throughout her youth but settled in New Orleans, Louisiana and attended West Jefferson High School. She met her loving husband, Max, and together they had 2 children and eventually settled down in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Monika was a people person unlike any other. She was a successful real estate office manager for Jay Crow and Associates for many years until finally becoming a real estate agent for various companies in Baton Rouge. She retired from real estate in 2023. She never met a stranger and was always a smiling face in the industry. She greeted everyone with her signature "Hey Dahlin" and was willing to lend a helping hand to anyone she was doing business for and with. She wanted everyone to succeed. It was her pleasure to make people feel welcomed and valued in her life. She remained a member of the Greater Baton Rouge Association of REALTORS until her retirement.
Monika is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Max P. Luna of New Orleans, Louisiana. Also, her two children: Monika Luna Bowden (Tommy) and Mackie P. Luna. Her grandson, Thomas E. Bowden, III and granddaughter, Jordan E. Bowden. Her brothers, Peter Kunoth (Sue) and Edward Paul Daykin (Georgia) and numerous nieces and nephews and friends who became family. Lastly, by her beloved grand-dog, Josie Luna was her trusted companion and best girl.
She was pre-deceased by her parents and grandparents.
A memorial service will be held on October 5, 2024 at:
Trinity Lutheran Church in Abita Springs, Louisiana

10:30 AM with refreshments to follow in the fellowship hall.
This memorial is a celebration of Monika's life. It was colorful and full of adventures. Please feel free to dress in your colorful clothing as she loved bright and cheerful clothing, especially her favorite color Orange.
