Helen L. Edwards, age 88, passed away at home with her family on July 6, 2024. She was born on November 4, 1935, in Mansfield, LA. Helen graduated from Baton Rouge High in 1953. She first worked for the Internal Revenue Division then later Stanicola Medical.
A longtime fixture in the Sherwood Forest area was Edwards Dry Cleaning, which she co-owned and operated with her husband Ed, along with Jack and Francis Edwards. Helen’s love of God and the church led her to Zoar Baptist Church where she served in the administrative office for many years. Helen was an avid sports fan who passionately followed the L.S.U. Tigers. Family was the focus of her life. She guided them through life with affection, wisdom, and advice.
She is survived by her sons, David Edwards (spouse Yvette) and Stephen Edwards; sister, Barbara Leopold; sister-in-law, Vivian Leopold; grandchildren, Sean Edwards, Melissa Edwards Shows (husband Kaleb), Kristin Edwards, Michael Edwards, Landon Edwards, Matthew Edwards, and Madelyn Edwards; 7 great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Richard Edwards “Ed”; daughter, Toni Kay Edwards; parents, Rudolph Leopold and Johnnie Bigby; brothers, Mac and Joe Leopold.
Relatives and friends are invited to the visitation at Zoar Baptist Church on Friday, July 12, 2024, from 10AM to 11AM. The funeral service will follow at 11AM with interment in the church cemetery.
